“From Fragility to Kingship”

Nurturing a Bold Anointed Generation of Leaders

In II Kings 11:1-12, the passage unfolds with the story of Joash, a young boy anointed as the next king of Judah. At an early age, Joash’s life was at significant risk due to the corrupt queen, Athaliah, ruling the land. However, through the intervention of the priest Jehoiada, Joash was anointed as the rightful king and was raised under his guidance.

The story of Joash teaches us valuable life lessons about leadership and the importance of nurturing the next generation. Here are a few key takeaways:

Identifying Potential: Joash’s potential as a leader was recognized even as a child. As individuals, we should strive to identify the leadership qualities in young people around us and provide them with guidance and opportunities to flourish.
Protecting and Mentoring: Just as Jehoiada protected Joash from harm, it is crucial for mentors and leaders to create a safe and supportive environment for young leaders to grow. By investing time, wisdom, and mentorship, we can shape the next generation of leaders.
Honoring God’s Anointing: Joash’s anointing symbolized God’s approval and endorsement. Similarly, we should honor and respect the divine call on future leaders’ lives, encouraging them to use their leadership positions for the betterment of others and to bring glory to God.

PRAY:
for discernment to identify leadership potential in young people.
for the protection and guidance of mentors and guardians over young leaders.
for God to anoint and empower the next generation of leaders for their calling.
for opportunities and platforms for young leaders to develop their skills and make a positive impact.
for humility and wisdom for these emerging leaders, so that they may serve with integrity and compassion.
