” Whatsoever We Ask. ”
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us” (I John 3:22–24).
In a society and age that focuses so much on “my rights,” there is a tendency to believe that just because we ask for something, it should happen. God does not deny us our rights as His children, but there are defining principles to receive His blessings.
We receive because we keep His commandments.
We receive because we do what is pleasing in His sight.
We believe in the name of Jesus.
We love one another.
Obviously, our prayers should align with God’s desires and His longing to dwell in and among us.
Prayer Focus:
Let our motives for answered prayer be according to God’s will and not simply because we are His children and believe that “we are deserving” or that “it’s my right.”
To receive from You Lord, help me to obey Your Word.
Am I doing what is pleasing in your sight, God?
Ask for a sincere love for the lost and each other.
We can have no greater peace than knowing that through these steps we can abide in Christ and beyond all else that He abides in us through the Holy Ghost that dwells within.
