“The Cadence of the Kingdom”

Unity is the cadence of the Kingdom of God, a harmonious rhythm that guides believers as they walk together in faith. Amos 3:3 asks, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” This rhetorical question underscores the necessity of alignment and agreement in our spiritual journey in the Body of Christ. Just as soldiers march in step to the beat of their marching orders, Christians are called to walk together in unity, agreeing on their purpose, direction, and destination.

Our divine marching orders are found in Scripture, urging us forward with clarity and urgency. In military terms, marching orders direct soldiers to move with precision and purpose, ensuring their steps are unified and their mission is achieved. Similarly, the steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord, as Psalm 37:23 declares, and these ordered steps delight not only the Lord but also those who walk in obedience to His will.

Walking together in unity is not merely a suggestion but a command central to the believer’s mission. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 paints a vivid picture of the strength found in partnership: “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” This passage highlights the necessity of walking together, not just in times of ease but in moments of challenge and hardship. Just as soldiers rely on one another in battle, believers are called to support and strengthen each other.

A cord of three strands—representing the bond between God and His people—is not quickly broken, for it reflects the unity and resilience of a community walking in step with the Lord. Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21(NIV) further emphasizes the importance of unity: “That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” Such unity is a testimony to the world, a powerful cadence that speaks of God’s love and purpose. When believers march forward in unity, their steps create a collective sound that resonates with the rhythm of Heaven on earth, drawing others into the beauty of God’s presence.

Ephesians 4:3 urges believers to “endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” This effort requires diligence and intentionality, much like the discipline required in a military formation. A soldier’s steps must align with their commander’s orders, and in the same way, a believer’s steps must align with the Holy Spirit’s leading. Marching together as one body ensures we move forward with purpose, avoiding the divisions and distractions that hinder progress.

As believers, we have received our marching orders to reach the lost, pray for laborers, and support the local assembly. These orders come with a sense of urgency, calling us to move forward in faith, guided by the Holy Ghost and aligned with God’s Word. Our steps are not random but divinely orchestrated, forming a cadence that mirrors the divine unity of Heaven. Together, we march forward, supporting one another through prayer, rejoicing in the path the Lord has set before us, and advancing His Kingdom with every step.
