Prayer and Ministries
“Prayer in Ministries…”
When we hear the expression “PIMs,” for most of us, “Partners in Missions” comes to mind. It is vitally important to give financially to support the work of God on any level, whether locally or abroad, to contribute to the success of that work. However, it is just as important to support the work (ministry) of God with prayer for it to be successful. So, in this case, the acronym “PIMs” is referring to “Prayer In Ministries.” Prayer is essential in any ministry! Prayer does help reinforce the work of ministry, but above all, it represents your communication and relationship with God. A well-known theologian once said, “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work” (O. Chambers). E. M. Bounds said, “Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still.”
Prayer not only helps with the personal circumstances of life that benefit oneself and others, but beyond that, it also impacts kingdom and ministry purposes, helping us effectively minister to people. Through prayer, a powerful anointing is released and often we can identify with that same anointing as it surfaces in various areas of ministry we are involved in. Whether you teach, preach, lead a department, witness, play music, sing, or whatever way you serve the Lord, that ministry or service becomes much more effective and powerful when it is reinforced with a prayer life. Prayer helps you stay focused on your calling. Prayer should play a major role in every ministry in the worldwide Church. The simplicity of prayer makes it accessible to everyone, in any ministry, from the youngest to the oldest. The power of prayer, which is active in ministry through us, can forever change the course of the temporal and the eternal … for the better.
Prayer is Rewarding. Through prayer, you will RECEIVE and REAP! Prayer has the power to turn people from the power of Satan to the power of God. “To open their eyes, and to turn them … from the power of Satan unto the power of God …” (Acts 26:18). So, reap the harvest! Receive God’s empowerment and divine ability and do greater works! “… He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do …” (John 14:12). Reap all the benefits of prayer! “… the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following” (Mark 16:20). Allow God’s Spirit to demonstrate, unto HIS GLORY! “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (I Corinthians 2:4).
You can pray and ask the Lord to help you in your ministry of calling: Pray, “Lord Anoint My …
HEAD that I may … “be sanctified in Thy sight” (Leviticus 8:12).
MIND that I may … “have the mind of Christ” (Philippians 2:5).
EYES that I may … “behold wondrous things out of Thy law” (Psalm 119:18).
EARS that I may … “incline mine ears to the words of Thy mouth” (Psalm 78:1).
MOUTH that I may … “speak the oracles of God” (I Peter 4:11).
NECK that You may … “destroy the yoke because of the anointing” (Isaiah 10:27).
HEART that I may … “be a man/(woman) after Thine own heart” (Acts 13:22).
HANDS that You may … “establish Thou the works of my hands” (Psalm 90:17).
FEET that You may … “order my steps in Thy Word” (Psalm 119:133).
BODY that I may … “be healed” (James 5:14).
PERSON that I may … “abide in Thy favor.” (Psalm 45:7).
BEING that I may … “live, and move, and have my being” (Acts 17:28).
MISSION that I may … “minister effectively in Your kingdom, through You” (Isaiah 61:1).
DESTINY that You may … “teach me ALL things by that same anointing” (I John 2).
Through your prayers to the Almighty God, He can anoint you from “head” to “toe” in ministry, and in all things for Him. You are complete in Him (Colossians 2:10), lacking nothing! (Psalm 23:1). Be a participant, making sure that you are a supporter of … PIMs!
