How heartbreaking it must have been…
” Preserver of Destiny – Jochebed “
By Jerolyn Kelley
Like any mother, Jochebed wanted to best for her children. How heartbreaking it must have been to receive the news that baby boys should be killed. I can’t imagine her torment.
However, Jochebed had a God inspired plan to preserve her son. I somehow believe that Jochebed reached out to the Lord for wisdom and guidance as to how to preserve the life of her son. It was brave and bold of her to initiate her plan, but a mother will go to extreme measures to preserve her children.
The secret plan proved to be exactly the formula God wanted to preserve the life of Moses. God had a plan prepared for baby Moses to become the great leader of Israel. Likewise, He has a plan for each of our children. (Jeremiah 29.11)
The plan of God was no match for the design of the enemy in the life of Moses. And the plan of God for our children is no match for satan.
What is our secret weapon? I believe Jochebed sought the Lord and He heard her and gave her the plan to protect her child. Likewise, as we seek the Lord in prayer for our children, we will see the hand of God leading them. It may take a different course of action than we would have planned, but nevertheless it is the hand of God.
Your prayers are not in vain. When the enemy tries to steal your children, be assured that there is a God in heaven who is watching over them and that your prayers can completely turn the tide in their life. When the enemy tries to do havoc with my children, he soon finds out that he is no match for my secret weapon of prayer.
Often our words can fall on deaf ears to our children, especially if they are not living for God. We can be assured, however, that our prayers to God Almighty do not fall on deaf ears. He hears, He cares, He knows and He will guide.
When the enemy tries to put fear in your heart, use that secret weapon of prayer to calm you as you seek the Lord. (Psalms 34.4) He WILL deliver you from your fears as you seek Him.
We do not know exactly how old Jochebed lived to be, but I feel certain that as long as she lived, she used that secret weapon of prayer as a covering for her children. There is nothing to match the love and prayers of a mother for her children. Don’t give up, ladies! Use your secret weapon daily.
